During a pivotal spiritual opening in the 70’s, Michael began studying and practicing the teachings of East and West.  It was then that he was gifted with the vision of a trans-denominational spiritual community based on the truth teachings of the ages and humanitarian service.  In 1986 he founded the Agape International Spiritual Center upon that vision, a spiritual community of thousands of local and worldwide members.

Recently described in What Is Enlightenment? magazine as a “non-aligned trans-religious progressive,” Dr. Beckwith shares his powerful conviction of creating the Beloved Community through his participation on international panels with other peacemakers, policy-makers and spiritual leaders including the Dalai Lama of Tibet, Dr. Robert Mueller, Dr. T. Ariyarante of Sri Lanka, and Arun Gandhi, grandson of Mohandas K. Gandhi.  He is a co-founder of the Association for Global New Thought, an organization dedicated to planetary healing and transformation.

Dr. Beckwith is the originator of the Life Visioning Process, which he teaches along with meditation, affirmative prayer, alignment with the universal principles
governing the universe, and the benefits of selfless service.  These teachings are offered during his facilitation of retreats, workshops and seminars, and through the accredited classes of the University of Transformational Studies and Leadership, which he also founded.  His books include:  Inspirations of the heart, Forty Day Mind Fast Soul Feast, A Manifesto of Peace, and Living from the Overflow.  You may learn more about Michael, his work, and his teaching which is featured in the movie, The Secret by visiting www.agapelive.com, and www.GiftofAgape.org.

Together, Drs. Michael Beckwith and Rickie Byars Beckwith have written lyrics and music performed by the Agape International Choir in concert venues worldwide.   Always in demand, their performances inspire peace and goodwill in the global community.  They share their lives with their four adult children and six grandchildren.

Dr. Beckwith’s achievements as a humanitarian and champion of peace have been widely acclaimed. In 2003, his activities were enumerated when he was written into the Congressional Record of the 107th Congress.  He is a recipient of numerous humanitarian awards some of which include: The 2004 Africa Peace Award, Thomas Kilgore Prophetic Witness Award, The Howard Thurman Stained Glass Window Award by Morehouse College, a commissioned oil portrait for Morehouse’s prestigious Hall of Preachers, Humanitarian Award of the National Conference for Compassion and Justice.
